Agricultural Service Technician

The Role
We are recruiting for an Agricultural Service Technician to join a well-established business working across the agricultural, rural and commercial sectors.
This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone with a practical background in mechanical engineering, electrical work, plumbing, groundworks, construction, plant maintenance, agricultural engineering or similar site-based work.
You will be working as part of a team, travelling to customer sites to support the installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of agricultural and rural systems. The work may include irrigation systems, pumps, pipework, mechanical equipment, grain handling systems, site preparation, general maintenance, groundworks and other practical installation tasks.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working outdoors, is comfortable in all weather conditions and takes pride in delivering a professional service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend customer sites to carry out installation, servicing, maintenance and repair work.
- Work on a range of agricultural, mechanical, irrigation and site-based systems.
- Support the installation and repair of pumps, pipework, fittings and associated equipment.
- Assist with groundworks, trenching, site preparation and general installation tasks.
- Carry out basic fault finding and support with resolving technical issues on site.
- Use hand tools, power tools and site equipment safely and effectively.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions and across a variety of rural and commercial environments.
- Communicate professionally with customers while on site.
- Work closely with colleagues to complete projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Travel to different sites as required, usually as part of a team.
- Stay away from home occasionally depending on project location.
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
- Maintain tools, equipment and vehicles in good working order.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous hands-on experience in a mechanical, electrical, plumbing, groundworks, construction, engineering, agricultural or maintenance-related role.
- A practical, problem-solving approach.
- Confidence using hand tools and power tools.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude with customers.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Flexibility to travel to customer sites.
- Willingness to stay away overnight occasionally.
- Reliable, hardworking and willing to turn your hand to a variety of tasks.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following would be beneficial, but is not essential:
- Agricultural engineering or farm-based maintenance.
- Irrigation systems, pumps, pipework or water systems.
- Basic mechanical or electrical fault finding.
- Groundworks, trenching or site preparation.
- Plant, machinery or agricultural equipment.
- Steel-framed buildings, grain handling systems or crop storage facilities.
- CSCS, forklift, telehandler, plant tickets or similar site qualifications.
The Candidate
The successful candidate is likely to be practical, reliable and comfortable working in a physical, outdoor role. You may already be working as a service technician, installation technician, maintenance engineer, agricultural engineer, groundworker, plumber, mechanical fitter, plant fitter or similar.
The most important thing is a strong hands-on attitude, the ability to work well with others and a willingness to learn a varied role across agricultural and rural site-based projects.
