Location : Halstead (own transport required due to rural location)
Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour
Job Description:
Purpose of the Role
To ensure production teams receive the correct materials, components, and consumables at the right time by accurately picking, preparing, and delivering items from stores to production areas. The role supports efficient workflow while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and stock accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Material Picking
- Pick components and materials from stores using production pick lists or work orders.
- Verify part numbers, descriptions, and quantities before issue.
- Ensure all required items are available before supplying production.
- Escalate shortages or discrepancies promptly.
Production Supply
- Deliver materials to designated production workstations in line with the production schedule.
- Replenish production stock locations as required.
- Ensure production areas remain supplied to minimise downtime.
- Return unused materials to stores following company procedures.
Stock Control
- Record stock movements accurately using the company’s inventory system.
- Assist with stock counts and stock takes
- Maintain organised storage locations and ensure correct stock rotation where applicable.
- Report damaged or obsolete stock.
Quality
- Check materials for damage before issuing to production.
- Ensure only approved materials are supplied.
- Report any quality concerns immediately.
Housekeeping
- Maintain clean, tidy, and safe stores and production supply areas.
- Keep gangways and access roads clear.
- Store materials safely and securely.
Health & Safety
- Follow all company Health & Safety procedures.
- Wear required PPE at all times.
- Use manual handling techniques correctly.
- Operate material handling equipment only if authorised and trained.
- Report hazards, accidents, and near misses.
General Duties
- Support production during busy periods.
- Assist Goods In or Dispatch when required.
- Carry out other reasonable duties as requested by management.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous warehouse, stores, or production experience.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to follow pick lists and work instructions.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
Desirable
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Counterbalance or reach forklift licence.
- Experience using ERP, MRP, or warehouse management systems.
Knowledge
- Stock control processes.
- Safe manual handling practices.
- Production material flow.
- Basic quality standards.
- Health & Safety procedures.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking between stores and production areas.
- Manual handling of components and materials within safe limits.
- Standing for extended periods.
- Use of pallet trucks or other material handling equipment.

Working Hours
Monday to Friday 07.30 until 16.00, with flexibility to work overtime where required to support production demands.
