This course is designed to support you in successfully making the transition from peer to manager. You will look at your instinctive management style and explore the impact this style will have on those around you. Coaching & Mediation Essentials

Overview
This highly practical and interactive day of two halves focuses on developing core skills of coaching and those required to mediate and resolve conflict situations. 1) Coaching gives confidence to those keen to utilise coaching in their role as a manager. From understanding the role of coaching and the obvious benefits, to having tools and an approach that can be implemented directly into the workplace, participants will gain knowledge and understanding and have opportunity to explore different coaching skills, tools and techniques with a view to finding their own style, best fit and become comfortable with approaching coaching conversations. 2) Mediation is required from time to time in any workplace. Human beings inevitably clash, especially at work. Different personalities, different communication styles, different motivations and ambitions can all give rise to workplace conflict. This can lead to fractured, damaged relationships with a negative impact on performance. By adopting the approach of a mediator and developing the skills to mediate successfully we can help those we manage to resolve their conflict. This session gives you the tools and confidence to be able to help those in conflict identify and agree joint solutions, leading to the best possible outcomes for the individuals involved and for the organisation.

Teams are exposed to a variety of different pressures, all of which can lead to periods of both motivation and demotivation for your team members. In your role as manager, you must work hard to understand the often quite complex set of variables that will exert an invisible influence on the motivation levels of your team. With a strong focus on how to provide inspirational management to your team as well as how to build and maintain momentum in the team’s effort. We explore how easy it is to put common motivators in place but also how to spot understand motivations and how such motivations can be harnessed to drive individual performance. We look at how to spot the early warning signs of demotivation and what you need to do to get things back on track. We also explore in depth, how being assertive is being able to express yourself with confidence without having to resort to passive, aggressive or manipulative behaviours.
